What percentage of fresh proteins do you use in your pet treats?
How many calories per treat?
Whether it is Salmon, Turkey, Tuna, or Chicken, we push the limits on adding plenty of fresh proteins and making sure that over 40% of the treat formula is from fresh proteins.
Where are My Little Lion and My Little Wolf pet treats made and where do the ingredients come from?
There is a major problem in regards to pet obesity in North America with over 50% of our dogs and cats being overweight. This can be partially due to the fact that our pets have been over consuming on diets and treats that are high in sugar and carbohydrates common in diets and treats that are low in natural proteins and high in grains. Waggers has a mission to allow pet owners the satisfaction of giving their pet a treat without contributing to overweight issues. My Little Lion cat treats have less than 1.3 calories per treat and My Little Wolf dog treats have less than 2.7 calories per treat.
What is Vegetable Glycerine?
My Little Lion cat treats and My Little Wolf dog treats are made in the USA using ingredients sourced from US suppliers
What is Animal Plasma?
Vegetable Glycerine is a clear, colorless, thick liquid with a naturally sweet taste. 100% food grade, vegetable glycerine is derived from palm oil by the process of hydrogenolysis, which removes the fatty acids leaving pure vegetable glycerine. Glycerine is an excellent humectant which binds with water and allows our pet treats to stay moist and soft. The vegetable glycerine we use is USP food grade and Kosher.
What is Carrageenan?
No life exists without blood, and the nutrients it provides to carnivorous animals are essential. Carnivores in the wild routinely consume the blood of prey animals. The animal blood is as natural a part of a carnivore's diet as the meat and bone consumed from prey. It is an important natural food ingredient. Plasma supplies iron, sodium, chloride, potassium, calcium, phosphorous, magnesium, numerous vitamins, and over 18 amino acids. These nutrients found naturally in animal plasma play a large role in maintaining a healthy immune system and a more natural diet for our pets. The inclusion of porcine plasma is one reason Waggers does not need to add chemically-synthesized vitamins, minerals, or other nutrients to our formulas.
What percentage of fresh proteins do you use in Waggers TenderMoist Cat Food
Carrageenan is a food additive extracted from seaweed. It's used in our pet treats to help the high moisture, soft treats take shape. Carrageenan is safe for people and pets and can be found in many foods that we consume.
Some people believe eating foods that contain carrageenan causes them to have digestive problems. In 2001, questions were raised about the potential for carrageenan to be a health hazard because lab tests showed that exposure to large amounts of degraded carrageenan caused intestinal damage in some species of rodents and primates. However, it's important to understand that degraded carrageenan isn't the same as the carrageenan used in food products. Degraded carrageenan is properly referred to as poligeenan, and it doesn't have the same properties as carrageenan, so it's not used in food products. Since 2001, more research has been done and it indicated that food grade carrageenan exposure doesn't cause any damage to intestinal walls, nor does it break down into poligeenan during food processing or during digestion.
Is TenderMoist all natural?
Whether it is Chicken, Salmon, or Tuna, we have added over 90% premium animal proteins to the formulas.
This is an absolute first in the industry for convenient kibble style and represents fresh protein inclusion similar
to raw pet food diets.
How much moisture is in Waggers TenderMoist?
Yes. TenderMoist uses all natural ingredients with added vitamins and Minerals.
What is the percentage of carbohydrates in Waggers TenderMoist?
Waggers TenderMoist includes up to 30% moisture and will give more moisture to cats than conventional dry cat foods. This is important as cats naturally get their moisture from their diet. Feeding your cat a strictly dry cat food can contribute to dehydration.
Where is Waggers TenderMoist made and where do the ingredients come from?
Waggers TenderMoist is composed of 7.5% carbohydrates which is significantly lower than any dry pet food.
What are the benefits of being Starch Free?
Waggers TenderMoist is made in the USA using ingredients sourced from US suppliers. Over 95% of the ingredients are produced in the US and nothing is included from China.
What is Vegetable Glycerine?
Starches are added to most pet foods as they are required to glue the ingredients together in highly processed pet foods. This glue is not ideal for our pets as their digestive systems are designed to breakdown primarily protein and fats. A diet free of starches is rare today and more natural to our pets.
Why do you add Ground Pecan Shells?
Vegetable Glycerine is a clear, colorless, thick liquid with a naturally sweet taste. 100% food grade, vegetable glycerine is derived from palm oil by the process of hydrogenolysis, which removes the fatty acids leaving pure vegetable glycerine. Glycerine is an excellent humectant which binds with water and allows Waggers TenderMoist to stay moist and soft. The vegetable glycerine we use is USP food grade and Kosher.
What is Glucono Delta Lacone (GDL)?
Ground Pecan Shells are added into Waggers TenderMoist to add fiber and is required to help reduce hairballs in our cats. Pecan shell is a pure natural material made of cellulose and lignin. In fact it is the identical composition of a common material found in pears. If you have eaten a pear and noticed a gritty texture, those are clusters of the same type of cells as pecan shell. The pecan shell fiber has very low irritant properties and is less likely to cause inflammation. What is really good about the pecan shell resource, is that the shell is protected during the life cycle from contamination by both an external green husk and the fiber system of the tree which acts as a large filter for any possible ground contaminants. The result is a pesticide free clean fiber source that is natural and requires no chemical processing or additives. In pet food, pecan shell is ground to individual cells called sclereids that have a round oval shape (also found in apples, cloves, cinnamon, and pears). Pecan shell is a very rich source of antioxidants such as Ellagic acid and Gallic acid. In fact, the shell contains more than 3 times the antioxidant value of an equivalent weight of either raw blueberries or raw raspberries.
What is Sodium Alginate?
Glucono Delta Lactone, often abbreviated GDL, is a naturally occurring food ingredient and is one of a class of ingredients known as acidulants. In food manufacturing, acidulants are used to reduce the pH of the food, retarding spoilage (GDL can be used as a natural preservative in some circumstances), as well as to prevent the discolouration of the final food product. In large scale commercial manufacturing GDL is widely used in products such as tofu, honey, fruit juices and wine. GDL is made through the fermentation of plant-derived glucose. It is not made from wheat or from any other gluten- containing grain. The final product, which is a fine white powder, is 100% free of wheat, gluten and dairy. It is soluble in water, is completely non toxic and is completely metabolised by dogs and cats digestive systems.
What is Pork Protein?
Sodium Alginate is a gum, extracted from the cell walls of Brown Algae. It is added into Waggers TenderMoist to bind with water and to add viscosity. Sodium Alginate has been used in human foods for many years and is completely food safe. A huge benefit to adding Sodium Alginate is it is very effective at removing heavy metal toxins from the body so it is an excellent detoxifier.
Pork Protein is Pork Gelatin that is extracted from fresh pork skin. The gelatin Is part of the collagen in the skin. The extraction process involves enzymatic pre-treatment which gives the purest protein and than we use a process called hydrolysis to remove the gelatin. This is very high quality protein that is 100% bioavailable and is a 100% natural ingredient. This high quality protein helps bind our product and is needed because we have no starches.
